Paper 65 Overview: The Overcontrol of Evolution

Life on earth is the result of careful planning and oversight by spiritual beings. The Life Carriers brought life to earth and guided its development. There were three clear levels to life creation: physical energy supporting mind capacity, mind ministry from spirit helpers, and spirit gifts to human minds.

Evolution follows purposeful patterns designed by higher beings, including the Life Carriers. These Life Carriers work with physical controllers and spirit helpers to guide how living things develop on planets. They help life forms adapt and grow according to plans made for each world.

Basic living material comes from the work of Physical Controllers and Seven Master Spirits, with help from Life Carriers. This teamwork creates physical bodies that can develop minds. The process happens at three levels: physical energy that supports mind capacity, mind help from spirit assistants, and spirit gifts to mortal minds.

Physical controllers handle the mechanical levels of life response. Spirit assistants activate and regulate the levels of mind that can learn from experience. Life Carriers have some control over environmental aspects until human will appears. These three groups work together to make evolution purposeful and never accidental.

Life Carriers can change their form to work at three different levels. They can work at the physical level of chemistry, the middle level of existence, and a higher spiritual level. They normally work at the middle level, but can change with help to fulfill their missions.

When Life Carriers prepare to bring life to a planet, they call a special commission that helps them change their form. After creating life patterns, they return to their normal form where they can guide living things but not create new ones. Later, when human-type free will appears, they either leave the planet or take vows to stay as advisors without influencing evolution further.

The story of how humans evolved from simple sea life to becoming earth's most advanced creatures is a fascinating journey of struggle and survival. Life began in warm coastal waters where Life Carriers started three separate types of life on earth. These early forms gradually developed into more complex creatures.

Life evolved from simple plants to animals, then to fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and finally mammals. The frog was an important ancestor that led to reptiles, which then gave rise to birds and mammals. Eventually, human ancestors evolved from certain mammal groups that migrated from North America to Asia, where humans finally appeared during the ice age.

The Life Carriers cannot explain many strange events in early evolution to modern humans. There was a purpose behind all these seemingly odd developments of living things. The Life Carriers are not allowed to interfere with life patterns once they start working.

Life Carriers can use natural resources and take advantage of helpful circumstances to support their life experiments. They had backup plans if certain evolutionary paths failed. For example, they were watching a thousand different possible human development paths when the special frog ancestor nearly went extinct. Even if the first humans, Andon and Fonta, had died without children, human evolution would have continued through other paths.

earth was assigned to these Life Carriers as a life-experiment world. They made their sixtieth attempt to improve life designs in this star system. They succeeded in creating twenty-eight beneficial modifications that will be useful throughout their universe region in the future.

Life establishment is never completely experimental in the sense of trying something untested. Evolution is always progressive and controlled. Many features of human life show that mortal existence was intelligently planned. An example is how living cells can produce chemicals to heal wounds, which was one of over 100,000 possible chemical reactions the Life Carriers tested before choosing the right formula for earth.

The Life Carriers were disappointed that their efforts to modify intelligent life on earth were handicapped by two major problems: the Caligastia betrayal and the Adamic default. These events disrupted their plans for human development. They were particularly troubled by these setbacks.

Despite these disappointments, the Life Carriers recognize that the universe is not managed just for their convenience or according to their plans. They understand that wise and powerful beings are responsible for managing the universe. Later supervisors of earth have complete confidence that the human race will eventually triumph and that their original life plans will be vindicated.

Scientists face a problem when studying life: they must kill living matter to analyze it. Dead protoplasm weighs the same as living protoplasm, but it is not the same. Living things have an inborn drive to adapt to their environment and become more perfect.

Plants and animals show amazing abilities to adapt. For example, the development of chlorophyll in plants was a crucial step. In animals, the ability of red blood cells to carry oxygen and remove carbon dioxide was important. Human teeth show evolution in progress - from 36 teeth in early ancestors to 32 in early humans, and now moving toward 28 teeth.

Seven spirit helpers called adjutant mind-spirits help lower intelligent beings in this universe. They work from universe headquarters or connected worlds. Their work is very important on evolutionary worlds like earth.

These helpers are concerned with mind evolution, not physical evolution. They don't contact purely mechanical life responses, which belong to the power centers and physical controllers. Instead, they begin working when living things show the ability to learn from experience. They function from the simplest minds up to the highest human minds, preparing them to receive spiritual ministry.

Time and space are connected, and some time delays are necessary because of space conditions. We cannot rush life processes faster than a planet's physical development allows. If physical conditions permitted, life evolution could be completed in less than a million years.

How we measure time depends on our life span. For beings with limited lifetimes, evolution seems very slow. For those not limited by time, evolution doesn't seem so long. Mind evolution depends on physical development, and spiritual progress depends on mental expansion. When physical conditions are right, sudden mental evolution can happen. When mind status is favorable, sudden spiritual transformations can occur.
