The Evolution of Local Universes
  • Summary

A local universe is created by a Creator Son and develops over time. These universes include 100 constellations with 100 systems each, and every system eventually has about 1,000 inhabited planets. Local universes grow and change as the physical worlds, intelligent beings, and spiritual values within them develop according to the plans of their Creator Sons.

Urantia (earth) belongs to the local universe called Nebadon, which is ruled by Jesus of Nazareth, also known as Michael of Salvington. Creator Sons can choose where to create their universes, but the overall designs for these creations come from the Paradise Architects of the Master Universe.

  • Introduction

A local universe is made by a Creator Son from the Paradise order of Michael. Each local universe has 100 constellations, with each constellation having 100 systems of inhabited worlds. Every system will eventually contain about 1,000 inhabited planets.

These universes of time and space are always changing and growing. The Creator Sons follow plans that help the physical, intellectual, and spiritual nature of the many creatures in a local universe to develop in steps. Urantia is part of the local universe Nebadon, ruled by Jesus who is also Michael of Salvington.

  • 1. Physical Emergence of Universes

Before a universe exists, the Paradise Master Force Organizers work with space-force and early energies. When energy starts to respond to local gravity, the power directors of the superuniverse take over. The power directors work alone during the early phases of local universe creation.

A Creator Son can only begin organizing a universe after the power directors have gathered enough space-energies to provide a physical foundation. The energy level of all local universes is about the same, but they can differ in size and visible matter. Nebadon has slightly less mass than other local universes in Orvonton, but it has all the energy and matter it needs to grow.

  • 2. Universe Organization

Creator Sons are preceded by power directors and other beings from the Third Source and Center. Michael, the Creator Son of Nebadon, established the inhabited worlds from energies that were organized for him. With the help of the Infinite Spirit, he creates many spirit personalities.

The power directors who helped set up Nebadon continue to work with Michael. The first completed act in creating Nebadon was making its headquarters, Salvington. This was followed by creating the 100 constellation headquarters and 10,000 system headquarters. These special worlds are designed for physical, spiritual, and in-between (morontia) beings.

  • 3. The Evolutionary Idea

The only perfect creation is Havona, the central universe, which was made directly by the Universal Father and Eternal Son. The seven superuniverses are limited and always changing. Physical systems of time and space always evolve and are not stable until they join their superuniverse circuits.

Outside of the central universe, perfection must be earned through progress. Creator Sons have many different plans for organizing and developing their universes. The Universal Father is personally present in the central universe but not in local universes, where his Creator Sons represent him instead.

  • 4. God's Relation to a Local Universe

Though the Universal Father has given much of himself and his power to others, he is not quiet or inactive. He allows his Sons and other created beings to carry out his eternal purpose. When it comes to the creatures' needs for growth and experience, God steps back so that other beings can help.

In a local universe, the Universal Father acts through his Creator Son. The Creator Son makes the rules for his universe, and these rules always apply. God is actually present in mortals through the Thought Adjusters, which are pieces of his spirit. The Adjusters help God know all the thoughts and actions of all beings in all universes.

  • 5. The Eternal and Divine Purpose

There is a great purpose in how the universes move through space. Our struggles are not meaningless. We are part of a huge plan that the Gods are carrying out. The whole universe moves according to the infinite thought and eternal purpose of the First Great Source and Center.

God's eternal purpose is a high spiritual goal. The events of time and physical life are just temporary scaffolding that leads to the promised land of spiritual reality. It is hard for mortals to understand eternity, which has no beginning and no end. Everything familiar to us has an end, but God's plan embraces every creature in all his vast domains.
