The Creators have designed a gradual progression system where material mortals evolve through many stages rather than being instantly transformed into perfected spirits. This transition period occurs on specially designed architectural worlds that combine physical and spiritual properties. The morontia journey involves 570 distinct transformations as ascending mortals progress from material to spiritual existence.

The universe has established elaborate systems to support this transition, including specialized beings like Morontia Power Supervisors who manage the morontia energies, Morontia Companions who guide new arrivals, and various seraphic ministers who facilitate advancement. This progressive journey through the mansion worlds and beyond represents a carefully designed educational system preparing mortals for spiritual service.

The Gods cannot—and do not—instantly transform material beings of animal origin into perfected spirits through any act of creative magic. When the Creators desire perfected beings, they create them directly, but they never convert material creatures into beings of perfection in a single step. The morontia transition serves as the essential bridge between material life and spiritual attainment.

Death and dissolution of the physical body is not a magical process that suddenly transforms mortals into spiritual beings. Such beliefs represent superstitions and pleasing fables rather than universe reality. The morontia transition always intervenes between material existence and spiritual status, providing a graduated pathway that varies in detail across different local creations but maintains similar purposes throughout the universe.

The morontia realms function as liaison spheres connecting the material and spiritual levels of creature existence. Knowledge of this morontia life has been present on Urantia since the early days of the Planetary Prince, though this concept still appears in distorted form in present-day religions. The morontia spheres represent the transition phases where mortals progress through the local universe.

Only the seven worlds surrounding the finaliters' sphere in local systems are called mansion worlds, though all fifty-six transition abodes share the classification of morontia worlds. These creations combine physical beauty with morontia grandeur. They contain architectural design with double the elements of evolved planets—one hundred physical elements plus one hundred forms of unique morontia material. The Master Physical Controllers and Morontia Power Supervisors can modify matter to create this special intermediate substance.

These unique beings exclusively supervise activities involving combined spiritual and physical energies. They focus on the ministry of morontia progression, not by serving mortals directly but by creating and maintaining the transition environment. They function as channels of morontia power that energize the transition worlds.

Morontia Power Supervisors originate from a local universe Mother Spirit. They possess standard design with slight variations across local creations. They require no training before beginning their responsibilities. The first supervisors were created simultaneously with the arrival of the first mortal survivor on the mansion worlds. They are organized in groups of one thousand, classified into seven divisions: Circuit Regulators, System Co-ordinators, Planetary Custodians, Combined Controllers, Liaison Stabilizers, Selective Assorters, and Associate Registrars.

These hosts of the mansion and morontia worlds are the offspring of the local universe Mother Spirit. They are created in groups of one hundred thousand, with Nebadon currently hosting over seventy billion of these unique beings. Morontia Companions receive training from Melchizedeks near Salvington and serve under the supervision of the Sons of God with immediate direction from the Melchizedeks.

Morontia Companions maintain ten thousand headquarters throughout a local universe—one on each first mansion world of local systems. They function as a largely self-governing order of intelligent and loyal beings, though some have gone astray during celestial upheavals like the Lucifer rebellion in Satania. They exist in two distinct types—aggressive and retiring—though equal in status. They manifest beautiful affection toward one another despite not being sexually differentiated.

Joyful mirth and humor exist universally, similar to music. The ascending life balances equally between work and relaxation. Celestial relaxation differs from human humor but serves similar purposes. Morontia Companions organize play activities with support from reversion directors, who function somewhat like elevated humorists facilitating change and relaxation.

Spirit humor never emphasizes the misfortunes of the weak or disrespects divinity. It encompasses three appreciation levels: reminiscent jests from past experiences, finding joy in realizing the unimportance of current anxieties, and the joy of prophetic satisfaction knowing all things work together for good. These directors also lead diversions and spiritual recreation with cooperation from celestial artisans. They represent a recruited corps from various beings rather than a created order.

These teachers comprise a corps of glorified cherubim and sanobim. When mortals advance to mansion worlds, the guardian seraphim no longer requires cherubim and sanobim assistants, leaving these beings available for new service. They receive special training after being embraced by the Universe Mother Spirit and then serve as instructors on the mansion worlds.

Mansion World Teachers generally work in pairs as they did when serving with seraphim. They naturally connect with morontia existence and effectively teach ascending mortals. They engage in individual, group, class, and mass instruction. The educational system includes schools of thinking, feeling, and doing on mansion worlds, with additional schools of ethics, administration, and social adjustment on constellation worlds. Students must master each sphere's lessons before advancing to the next level.

While all orders of angels serve on morontia worlds, transition ministers specialize in facilitating the journey from material to morontia existence. These sixth-order seraphim concentrate on helping material beings adapt to the early stages of morontia life. Although the morontia life begins on inhabited worlds when the Thought Adjuster indwells a moral mind, mortals become conscious of these ministers only after reaching the mansion worlds.

These angels serve in seven divisions: Seraphic Evangels who help with route selection; Racial Interpreters who harmonize different viewpoints; Mind Planners who organize morontia personalities; Morontia Counselors who teach integration of meanings and values; Technicians who help with energy adaptation; Recorder-Teachers who maintain records; and Ministering Reserves who volunteer to assist ascending mortals in various ways.

The lower planes of morontia mota connect directly with higher levels of human philosophy. On the first mansion world, beginning students learn through parallel techniques, with simple mota concepts presented alongside analogous statements from mortal philosophy. Twenty-eight statements of human philosophy help new mansion world residents grasp the significance and meaning of morontia mota.

These philosophical statements include concepts such as: specialized skill does not indicate spiritual capacity; inherent capacities cannot be exceeded; difficulties stimulate the true children of the Most Highs; righteousness resonates with truth throughout the cosmos; weak individuals merely make resolutions while strong ones act; death adds the consciousness of survival to experiential status; and knowledge is possessed through sharing, safeguarded by wisdom, and socialized by love.

From mansion world graduation until attaining spirit status in the superuniverse career, ascending mortals are designated morontia progressors. This borderland life presents an unforgettable experience leading toward spirit existence and eventual creature perfection—finding God on Paradise. This elaborate system of mortal progression represents the Creators' divine purpose to provide graduated opportunities for mastering universe operations.

The mortal survival plan serves practical objectives beyond simply providing eternal bliss. The universe functions largely as a training school with a substantial portion of celestial creation engaged as teachers because a transcendent service goal exists beyond our current universe age. This system requires gradual ascension through every step rather than instant transportation to Paradise. From mortal to finaliter, ascending beings experience every possible phase of perfected creature existence within the present universe age.
