Problems of the Lucifer Rebellion
  • Summary

This paper helps us understand evil, sin, error, and the Lucifer rebellion. It explains why the rebellion was allowed to go on for so long before the rebels were punished. Humans often wonder why God permits evil and sin in the universe.

The paper describes how true freedom differs from false freedom, and why a loving Creator allows time for sinners to repent. The long delay in judging Lucifer shows God's mercy and love for all his creatures, including those who rebel. Even from rebellion, good things can come over time.

  • Introduction

It is hard for humans to understand evil, error, sin, and wrongdoing. People often struggle to see how these problems arise in a universe created by loving Gods. The difference between good and evil comes from having the freedom to choose.

The Gods do not create evil or permit sin directly. Instead, evil becomes possible when beings with free will live in a universe with different levels of perfection. Sin happens when someone freely chooses evil over good, and continued sin leads to deeper wrongdoing. Free will makes both good and evil choices possible.

  • 1. True and False Liberty

One of the hardest problems from the Lucifer rebellion was helping young humans tell the difference between true and false freedom. True freedom develops through growth and progress, while false freedom is a trick that leads to harm.

True liberty works with reality and respects fairness and brotherly care. Freedom cannot exist apart from responsibility and cosmic laws. When someone claims "freedom" but only wants power over others, they are not practicing true liberty but selfishness. True freedom leads to service to others, while false freedom leads to using others for selfish gain.

  • 2. The Theft of Liberty

God made a pattern of sharing when he created the eternal universe with the Son and the Spirit. This pattern means all creatures can work together with the Creators to achieve perfection. God gave all beings free will so they could join in this great adventure.

Lucifer's big mistake was trying to bypass the normal path of growth. His crime was attempting to take away the freedom of every being in the Satania system. By trying to short-circuit the long evolutionary journey toward light and life, Lucifer threatened to steal everyone's chance to contribute something unique to the growth of the system. No being has the right to take away another's true freedom.

  • 3. The Time Lag of Justice

People on evolutionary worlds often wonder why wise Creators allow evil and sin. They don't understand that true freedom requires the possibility of making wrong choices. The ability to choose between good and evil is a real gift from the Supreme Rulers.

When someone chooses evil, there is always a delay between their choice and the final punishment. This delay allows time for a fair judgment that even the sinner would agree is just. The Ancients of Days won't destroy any being until all moral values are completely gone from the wrongdoer and their supporters.

  • 4. The Mercy Time Lag

Another hard question is why Lucifer, Satan, and the rebel princes were allowed to cause trouble for so long. Parents who have raised children can understand why Michael, as a Creator-father, might be slow to condemn and destroy his own Sons. Like the father in Jesus' story of the prodigal son, he waited for them to repent.

When a creature chooses to do wrong, this proves they have free will. This freedom justifies any delay in punishment if the extra time might lead to repentance. Michael personally extended mercy to the rebels. In a loving universe, there is always a time delay between doing wrong and facing consequences, giving time for possible change of heart.

  • 5. The Wisdom of Delay

There were many reasons why Lucifer and his followers weren't punished right away. Mercy requires giving wrongdoers time to think about their actions. A father's love means giving chances for salvation before punishment.

Other reasons include: Michael hadn't completed his bestowal career; the Ancients of Days respected Michael's decisions; the wisdom of allowing rebellion to destroy itself naturally; giving every creature a chance to make a clear choice about the rebellion; and allowing the full expression of sin as the quickest way to cure it. From the view of eternal beings, even a hundred thousand years is a very short time.

  • 6. The Triumph of Love

The way the universe rulers dealt with the rebels shows the triumph of divine love. Though innocent beings suffered because of the rebellion, they can be sure that the judges will treat them with mercy and justice. Both the Creator Son and the Universal Father are guided by love in all their dealings with beings.

Like a loving father showing mercy to one child might cause temporary hardship for the other children, the rebellion caused suffering to innocent beings. However, this suffering is only temporary and cannot stop anyone's journey to Paradise. In fact, many beings who stood firm during the rebellion advanced spiritually. The Melchizedeks now teach that the good results from the rebellion have come to outweigh the bad by more than a thousand times.
