Paper 34 Overview: The Local Universe Mother Spirit

The Local Universe Mother Spirit is a unique representation of the Infinite Spirit who works alongside the Creator Son. She helps create life and ministers to the beings in a local universe. The Divine Minister provides spiritual guidance to mortals through various spirit circuits and works with other divine beings to help humans grow spiritually.

Through her various spiritual influences, the Mother Spirit helps mortals overcome the challenges of material existence and develop their spiritual natures. She works with the Creator Son's Spirit of Truth and the Universal Father's Thought Adjusters to lead willing human beings toward spiritual progress and eventual perfection.

When a Creator Son is personalized by the Universal Father and Eternal Son, the Infinite Spirit creates a special companion for him. This Creative Spirit works with the Creator Son first in organizing the physical universe and later in creating and ministering to the creatures of that universe. The Creative Spirit can work both physically and spiritually, but not at the same time, as she transforms energy creations into physical substances.

Though this early universe presence of the Infinite Spirit is difficult to portray as a person, to the Creator Son the Spirit associate is personal and has always functioned as a distinct individual. The Son operates in power designs, while the Spirit transforms these energy creations into physical substances.

After the physical organization of a universe is complete, the Michael Son announces that life will be created next. The Paradise Trinity approves this declaration, and a spiritual flash occurs that can be seen from the superuniverse headquarters. During this event, the Creative Spirit becomes personalized as the Divine Minister, who becomes the personal creative associate of the Creator Son.

The Divine Minister begins sending out spiritual power and influence to all the worlds in that local universe. This new personal presence is actually a transformation of the previously less personal associate who helped organize the physical universe. Though this process is instantaneous and hard to understand, the local universe Mother Spirit takes on a personal nature similar to the Master Spirit of her superuniverse.

After becoming a person during life creation, the Divine Minister works closely with the Creator Son. Some beings may not recognize her as fully personal until after the Creator Son becomes a Master Son. She then develops more personal qualities that make her easily recognizable to those who meet her.

The Divine Minister has all the physical control abilities of the Infinite Spirit, including antigravity power. She also fully controls mind gravity in her local universe. Though all Universe Spirits are spiritually the same, they function differently based on which Master Spirit created them. Despite these differences, they are all equally spiritual and divine.

Neither the Eternal Son nor the Infinite Spirit is limited by time or space, but many of their children are. The Infinite Spirit is everywhere in space and time, though some mind ministries experience time delays when coordinating different levels of reality. Messenger spirits can move through space quickly but still need time to travel.

A Creative Spirit is not limited by space but is limited by time when ministering to her universe. The Creator Son can act instantly throughout his universe, but the Creative Spirit must consider time except when using special powers. When the Creator Son and Creative Spirit work together, they can mostly overcome their limitations of time and space within their universe.

There are three main spirit circuits in the local universe of Nebadon. These are the Spirit of Truth from the Creator Son, the Holy Spirit from the Divine Minister, and the intelligence circuit of the seven adjutant mind-spirits. The Spirit of Truth is poured out on a world when a bestowal Son receives spiritual title to that sphere.

Though the Creator Son may travel elsewhere, the Spirit of Truth continues working through the Divine Minister. The Universe Mother Spirit never leaves the universe headquarters world. The Holy Spirit would stop working if she left Salvington. The seven adjutant mind-spirits are created by the Divine Minister and have similar character but different powers.

The Divine Minister works with the Creator Son to create life and new beings. On inhabited worlds, she works through divine circuits to help life emerge and grow on worlds, from plants to animals to humans. This work is largely done through the seven adjutant spirits, which help lead humans toward higher spiritual ideals.

Humans first experience the Spirit's ministry when their animal minds develop the ability to receive the adjutants of worship and wisdom. When a mind can receive the Holy Spirit, it can also choose to receive a Thought Adjuster from the Universal Father. The Spirit of Truth and Holy Spirit work together to teach truth and spiritually enlighten human minds.

As planets evolve and inhabitants become more spiritual, they can receive additional spiritual influences. Though divine beings may appear separate, their spiritual ministry is unified in human experience. As people become more receptive to this unified ministry, it becomes the ministry of God the Supreme.

The divine Spirit descends from eternal glory through many steps to meet humans where they are. Through faith partnership, the Spirit embraces the human soul and helps it ascend back to the heights of bliss. Spiritual life requires effort, which results in spiritual exhaustion. Without the divine Spirit breathing life into religious teachings, they remain powerless to transform human character.

The natural physical nature from animal-origin races does not naturally produce spiritual fruits. When human nature is improved, as happened partly through Adam's contribution to Urantia races, people are better prepared to work with the Spirit of Truth. Normal worlds with spiritual progress don't experience the intense conflicts between spirit and flesh that Urantia people do.

Urantia people suffer from two major setbacks: the Caligastia rebellion caused moral confusion, and the Adamic default deprived humans of a physical nature more responsive to spiritual leading. Despite these challenges, present-day humans can experience less conflict between flesh and spirit by entering the spirit kingdom through faith. Those born of the Spirit live on spiritual planes above these conflicts.
