Paper 110 Overview: Relation of Adjusters to Individual Mortals

Thought Adjusters show a divine and fatherly love for the mortals they indwell. They represent the most truly divine form of affection in all creation. Nothing else in the universe compares to their devoted ministry to individual mortals.

Adjusters work to help humans advance spiritually and fulfill their eternal destiny. They patiently guide humans through mortal life, helping them to grow and develop spiritually. Their ultimate goal is to prepare human souls for the afterlife and eventual fusion with the divine.

The Universal Father shares in the suffering of his imperfect beings by giving them freedom. The love and devotion of a Thought Adjuster is the most divine and pure form of affection in all creation. This affection is described as touchingly sublime and divinely Fatherlike in its character.

This type of personal contact between the Paradise Father and his individual creatures is reserved as a special Creator privilege. Nothing in all the universes can compare to the wonderful ministry of these impersonal entities. Their indwelling of the children on evolutionary planets represents a remarkable divine outreach.

Adjusters should not be thought of as living in the human brain but rather in the mind. They exist in the human mind rather than in a physical organ. They communicate with humans especially during worshipful moments when the mind is most receptive.

The Adjusters are efficient ministers to the higher phases of the human mind. They are dedicated to guiding humans safely toward the spiritual goal of perfection. They are also interested in human health, happiness, and prosperity when these contribute to spiritual progress.

Thought Adjusters come with a plan for the spiritual development of their human subjects. Humans have free will to accept or reject this plan. Adjusters never force changes upon humans against their will, respecting the human's freedom to choose.

The Adjusters work to spiritualize human thinking, not control it. They focus on modifying and coordinating thoughts rather than dominating the mind. When a person's mind agrees with the Adjuster's mind, and the person's will carries out the decisions of this combined mind, the Adjuster's will achieves a kind of personal expression through the human's decision.

Adjusters play a sacred game throughout the ages, engaging in the adventure of guiding mortals through time. They experience joy when humans cooperate with their guidance. Unfortunately, most Adjuster messages get lost in the material currents of the human mind, and only rarely do humans catch glimpses of the divine voice.

The success of an Adjuster depends not on the theories of human beliefs but on human decisions and steadfast faith. Humans can improve their relationship with their Adjuster by choosing to follow divine guidance. They can also grow spiritually by loving God, loving fellow humans, and accepting cosmic citizenship.

Adjusters receive the continuous stream of cosmic intelligence from the universe circuits. They cannot transmit most of this wisdom to human minds due to the differences in their natures. The Adjuster works tirelessly to spiritualize the human mind and develop the immortal soul.

Sometimes sudden thoughts or conclusions may be the work of the Adjuster, though this is not common. More often these unexpected insights are just normal mental occurrences from the human mind itself. The huge gap between human and divine natures makes it hard for Adjusters to guide and direct humans, who are largely controlled by chemical and electrical forces.

Conscience is not the same as the Adjuster's guidance, though many confuse the two. Conscience tells you to do right, based on human understanding. The Adjuster tries to tell you what truly is right when you can perceive this guidance.

During sleep, Adjusters try to register their spiritual messages in the higher levels of the mind. Regular dreams are not Adjuster communications but are mostly physical and psychological happenings. Dream experiences often distort any spiritual messages the Adjusters attempt to share during sleep.

The seven psychic circles represent levels of personality development and spiritual attainment on a mortal world. The seventh circle is the starting point for human personality function. Completing the first circle means reaching relative maturity.

Traversing these circles requires balanced development of the whole self—material, intellectual, and spiritual. Progress cannot be made through intellectual or spiritual development alone. Each decision a person makes either helps or hinders their Adjuster's function and their progress through these circles toward greater spiritual attainment.

Completing the seven cosmic circles does not equal fusion with the Adjuster. Fusion depends on complete alignment of the human will with God's will as represented by the Adjuster. This ultimate unification can happen during life or after death.

Most mortals must await death for Adjuster fusion, as the material body and brain make direct communication difficult. The greatest obstacle to Adjuster contact is humanity's material nature and lack of spiritual perception. But in eternity, after fusion, the human and Adjuster become truly one being, sharing all experiences, values, and memory from both the human and divine sides.
